Hi Allan...long time no talk. Again thanks for your great efforts on tracking the class of "59" !!
George Whitman here...I was wondering if we have surveyed the class to see how many were military vets.and if we lost anyone in Viet Nam ? Two weeks after graduation I joined the USAF. I was processed at the Boston Army Base for physicals and bumped Into a class of "59"Grad. also having his Physical except he was going into the Army Paratroopers. Unfortunately I can't recall his name. Before I went into Medical Radiology,I was selected to go to Intelligence School at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo TX to be a Radio Intercept Analyst with a Top Secret Clearance. Our real boss was NSA..!! and the Govt.recently de-classified a lot of what we did. Even in 1960 the data
we were dealing with was Star Wars levels !!! Unfortunately I flunked out with half my class.TOUGH WORK...
Look up on wiki USAFSS and you can see some of what we about. The only reason I mention it is the NSA, National Security agency,is in the news now. Still have the house in Jensen Beach FL.Still in touch with Art Patstone at Spruce Creek.
Hope your health is holding up. It's funny,just about all of Use are the same age !!

Hi George,
It's been a while. I haven't done any surveys like that-not sure how to do it. It takes a lot of time just keeping track of people and their emails, etc. I spent the early 60s working at Bell Labs, Murray Hill,NJ working on the NIKE X Missile, making specialized semiconductors and on the Telstar Satellite solar cells. Also classified at the time. When I lived in Melbourne Beach, I have spent a weekend at Art's in Spruce Creek and his Messerschmidt. Even got to take the controls a while. We also ran into Dave Crocker, who then lived in Daytona Beach. I am doing fine. Just retired last December. I fix computers on the side for extra money now and do websites.
I can post your email on the website blog you have if it's OK with you?

Just sent a few photos of my family.You may use them and my comments on USAFSS...However,it's
a little troubling to tell people you Flunked out of Intelligence School !! Boy you were in the center of the world at Bell Labs...A super INCREDIBLE place to be !! Here's some classified data,we could see all the data on all of the Russian radar scopes,intercepters, bombers,etc.After u2 we had 2,000 listening sites, some had antenna farms
As big as 3 football fields. Even in 1960 we captured and recorded every radio radar signal transmitted from Russia.This includes the Kremlin.By 1960 we had broken all the worlds crypto secret communication codes since we got tons data from our friends. Also we were flying B52 bombers regularly across Russia. One crashed in the
Urial mountains. My instructor told me my intercept could be on the Presidents desk in 2 Hrs.!! Also when we finished our 4 year tour there would a job waiting for us at NSA. sigh,I guess some things Are not meant to happen.. Shhhhh,don't tell anyone about this...ha ha.. 50 year old data is indeed obsolete ..

I SEE I AM ON THE UN-FOUND LOST LIST FOR WEY.CLASS OF 59...MY MOM ALSO GRADUATED THERE FROM THE CLASS OF 1938 ! BEING LOST IS SURE BETTER THAN THAN BEING ON THE DECEASED LIST ! WHAT A SHOCK THAT LIST IS. SOME GOOD FRIENDS ARE ON IT.
